About the Department of Art & Design

Department of Art & Design at Sharda university was established in 2012, with mutli-disciplinarily as a core idea. The department has been tirelessly working towards creating global design citizens. Holding their hands, driving them towards innovation through future aligned design thinking & design process, with continuous industry interactions through experiential project-based learning. The aim is to facilitate the students with an environment based on research towards developing a new generation of socially and environmentally aware and responsible designers and creative entrepreneurs.

The department has three faceted approaches towards an integrated learning program. Industry-based learning by bringing the classroom projects to the core of teaching pedagogy. This integrates continuous feedback from the industries and industry experts regarding the future and possible need of the industry. This enables the department to cater the need and prepare a team of future ready initiators & leaders.

Research Based Approach, as research projects are based on a complete business model by studying, analysing crafts, connecting business. The process needs to have social impacts by placing it on the forefront of the design industry. Encouraging to create craft-based design patents RBA as well as converting craft documentations into research papers, publications & sources of innovation, combining the craftsmanship with technology. Whereas Sharda Design centre is a platform to connect industry with students, business with fresh minds and an instrument to establish Sharda as a multi-disciplinary design interaction centre.
